Humphrey Verdon Roe was a British businessman, a philanthropist, aircraft manufacturer and the co-founder of Britain's first birth control clinic with Marie Stopes, who became his wife. He financed Stopes' book "Married Love" which was controversial at the time for it's explicitness. He was the father of the British philosopher Harry Stopes-Roe.
