Biographical Text

Rev. Gordon Lang was born in Monmouth, Wales on the 25th of February, 1897. He attended his local grammar school and Cheshunt College. He went on to become a Welsh Congregationalist Minister and then Labour Party politician.He became a Member of Parliament, and served two terms, for two different places. Firstly, for Oldham, starting in 1929 and ending in 1931. Secondly, he served for Stalybridge and Hyde beginning in1945 and concluding in 1951.

He was an advocate of birth control and is cited to be "...an enthusiastic Labour propagandist from South Wales" who "spoke inspiringly on the morality of Birth Control."
